EMC 27: Campaign Conclusion

Campaign conclusion:
The Luftwaffe in frame 1 maintained air superiority over the front during most of the day, and shot down several IL-2 Sturmovik squadrons, as well as Soviet B25's. Two mistel-duo's bombed bridges deep behind enemy lines. Dispite being outnumbered the Luftwaffe did very well and was an inspiration to the German groundtroops.

The Soviets learned from this first day of air-combat and launched two NOE B25-groups to take out targets near Seelow. Both raids were successfull. IL-2 units took out FLAK batteries and strafed German panzers way behind enemy lines. Overall this frame is judged as a moderate Soviet victory.

The third frame saw the VVS launch several heavy attacks on the German installations. Berlin itself was heavily damaged. At the same time, the LW managed to inflict some casualties on the advancing Russian bear. The LW jets were quite effective despite their low number. Still, the frame is deemed a moderate Soviet victory due to the LW's inability to stand up against the overwhelming odds and launch effective strikes, or stop Soviet strikes against important German targets.

With a minor LW victory in frame 1, and a moderate victory for the Soviets in frame 2 and 3, the campaign is judged a minor victory, bordering on moderate, for the VVS.
